?National Palace (Istana Negara)

In Malaysian, “Istana Negara” translates to “National Palace,” and Kuala Lumpur’s Royal King’s Palace (Istana Negara) serves as the official residence of the supreme King of Malaysia. The king relocated to a newly built Istana Negara in 2011, and while you can’t enter, it’s possible to see the beautiful architecture of the palace from afar and watch the hourly changing of the guards.

Nowadays Royal Selangor’s pewter factory has a workforce of almost 300 craftsmen and is renowned for its fine craftsmanship. Visit its award-winning Visitor Centre, and get hands-on in one of the traditional pewtersmithing workshops they offer. Learn the traditional methods of pewtersmithing and make your own pewter bowl.

Immerse yourself in the Malaysian art and craft of pewtersmithing. Create your own pewter bowl using traditional tools and methods in Royal Selangor’s School of Hard Knocks pewtersmithing workshop.

Get to keep your crafted pewter along with your "apprentice pewtersmith" apron and a personalized certificate.

?Merdeka Square

The flagpole which holds the flag of Malaysia is the highest in the world, towering at a height of 100 meters. Merdeka Square is a historical site where Malaya declared its independence. If you are a fan of the Malayan history, you can come here and take some pictures. The field in front of Merdeka Square was officially named as Dataran Merdeka on 1st January in conjunction with the Visit Malaysia Year 1990. There are many attractions nearby the Merdeka Square. For shoppers, you can come over to Central Market Kuala Lumpur to buy some local souvenirs and food and at the same time learn about the different cultures of the society that makes up Malaysia.

?National Mosque

The best features of the mosque are the 73 meters high minarets and its 16 pointed star concrete which is its main roof. There are many meanings to the design of the mosque. The main roof's design was inspired from the idea of an open umbrella while the minarets were like a folded umbrella. The concrete main roof utilizes the concept of folding plates in order to obtain larger space at the main gathering hall.
